Enrique Collar: It was the perfect environment to recover my identity in just every way. Argentina had lost the Malvinas, something that made them remember that Argentina was in fact part of Latin America. Charly Garcia started hanging out with Mercedes Sosa, folk and rock and roll were merging too, and the postmodernism was gaining popularity. I honestly had no idea what was going on in the art circles in Paraguay, but I would hang out with ordinary people. That gave me a bridge with my old childhood memories – paint the Lapachito (the National tree of Paraguay), paint the wagon they’d ask me. At the beginning, I was not in tune with any of that, but somehow, it turned into my motivation to find myself again, to get back my first six years in the countryside. There was a connection with these people because most of them were, just like me, from the province. How you got into this?
Painting caught me from the first moment I discovered it. As a child I studied comic strips which came by mail. As a teenager I worked in printing companies. The reproduction, the ink, the papers and the needed recovery of my first years of life in the field of Paraguay, pushed me towards the art.
I came in the world of cinema because of painting. During the last decade of the twentieth century, I drew and painted intensely Paraguay, My work was created within the Latin American cultural context, with myths and realities. El artista plástico y director de cine paraguayo Enrique Collar (52), residente en Rotterdam (Holanda), emprendió una nueva etapa artística con su experiencia de “pintura en tres dimensiones (3D)”, que puede verse en collarenrique.com y su cuenta de Facebook.
Explora el traspaso de un lienzo de su creación en dos dimensiones a una imagen esférica virtual, visible en 360º, gracias a programas informáticos. “Asumo mi pintura como un proyecto pictórico 2D y que también se puede ver en 3D.
